I can dig em, just can't dig em looking sweet. :-\ I think the 1820 Commercial change is a first and should clean up ok so that is cool. Also another Portugal Reis, my 2nd this Spring. Our next hunt will probably not be for a couple of weeks and by then most fields will be planted, so just getting enough targets to have a chance at something good will soon be a challenge.

PS... God I love these awesome coppers! ;D

Yeah it's been strange as I don't usually find them in the amount I have been. It's not all good because my military button count really sucks. Maybe in the Fall I can get it all together!

Almost forgot!!!!

The farmer who gave us permission today knows a field where a cannon is suppose to be buried  Think that will make the banner when we dig it? ;D

Nice job finding those! :icon_thumright:

I hope you find the cannon! I also have a buried pre-Revolutionary cannon story to follow up on.... someday! Its the only reason to keep my GTI2500... the two box coil. :)

I wonder what condition a cannon would be in after 250 years underground? :o

Only 11?? You used to be my personal hero......kinda falling out of my good graces now buddy. Hogge

It was Ironhorse who was talking to him, but I'm under the impression it wasn't buried that long ago. That's good in a way because it makes the chances of it being there much better. I think IH said a guy about 90 years old showed the farmer the spot. I'll have to get the details again myself, but will be a fun hunt! Ironhorse (well both of us) have already said we'd gladly give it to the farmer as he wants to restore it and make it part of the community again.

Sounds like your lead is a bit stronger than mine. :notworthy: If you do it, be sure to post lots of pictures of it coming out of the ground! :icon_thumright: Good luck finding it! :)

The one I have heard about involves George Washington on one of his passes through the area prior to the revolution. Just need the time to follow up on it.... already missed the spring window for this year. :(

Yeah the copper are still coming out for you... you've found more cut or broken coins in that one hunt than I had found in the years i've detected... Was that Reis from the other Reis field?

I guarantee we will be doing it because the farmer is just as game as we are. We actually went back to grab him about 45 minutes later but his wife had already made his plans!

Decent! What the thing with the ball on top? Musket part?

You just don't know what it's like being SO popular when you can't find anything? Anyway superb and great finds Maestro IP.

Nice digs IP. Is this a site that you have been to before and if so did you find many military buttons before from this site?
