Detector(s) used
Started with a Minelab xterra 505. Then Equinox 600 with stock coil, xl coil and sinper coil depending on circumstances. Now use a manticore mostly or oversized coil on equinox.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
It had been a slow fall for finds. Until I dug a wild signal that ended up being a fancy lid and started me off on a brutal 1870s to 1890s dump journey. I found a ceramic jar it fits last weekend. Though it's not proper lid i think it looks neat. Overall I'm pleased as the dump produced a lot of flasks, local blob tops and embossed meds. Even some great quack meds like a Dr. GROVES FOR INFANTS ( morphine, alcohol, sugar, peppermint oil and cloral)... and a Dr. Hooflands German bitters.

Find of the dig was tiny light cobalt pontil U.S.A. HOSP. DEPT. It came out today. They were issued during the Civil War in surgical kits and from what I've read used into the 1870s. They are sometimes dug in fort privys especially in the mid west. I'd really love to know how it got mixed in with a bunch of mostly 1880s to 1890s stuff. Some 1870s stuff has come out here in there including a pontil new york perfume bottle, but a majority of the glass is 1880s 1890s. A nice bull dog can topper came out as well.

I'll will update photos as I get things clean. There's a lot. So far 14 different blob tops, china and medicine local bottles, a few NYC ones. Lot of flasks think I'm at around 10.

Thank you. It's not a easy place. Rocks, bricks, broken windows. You get deep and trapped hydrogen sulfide starts coming out of pockets. Really can't have your head in any under mining sections because the gas built up. Have go ware an N95 or you'll be blowing coal ash out your noise for a few days. Black boogers. Yuck 🤮

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Looks like a nice batch of bottles.
So only the jar metal lid is from here in the 2nd picture. I've not cleaned everything up yet. But will add more pics. This is coolest blob to to come out. Eagle holding a monogrammed shield and a beer 🍺 lol.

Nice finds. I dug a Dr. Grove's Anodyne For Infants here near Philly in the 80's. Rubbed on their gums to mitigate the pain of teething.
