I picked the grossest day to go detecting and made an interesting discovery. It's 40 degrees, it poured for 2 days, then snowed. So everything is mushy cold , worst conditions to be digging in muck. But strangely , I went over ground I've covered before. And one after another I got hit after hit. Everything that was a heavy metal or iron showed up iron and only iron. Normally it's all over tbe place and makes it appear to be nails or junk. But today is was dead on and obvious when I hit on a relic. Why is that?

I have a 200 year old house next door and possibly there was another house and barn on my or my neighbors property. A map of 1860 shows a house and barn on what appears to be our property in 1860... But it's hard to tell, coulda been a few houses away.
Relic hunting is what I'm interested in.
Also I'm in PA

well that sounds like a perfect location. I mainly hunt coins and jewelry. I do also like finding artifacts. In my area there is quite a bit of iron junk around in the ground. Stuff that is big, like crow bar and spade shovel big. lol That's why I mainly hunt valuables. Farm houses I would guess would be your best spots. gd lk don't give up and hh post some pics of your finds . here's a couple of artifacts of my area I've found. see the round thing with the hole with a slit in it. it looks like a button maybe. it's pretty heavy for how small it is

I have dug out an embarrassingly large amount of stuff from my own yard. This is about 1/4 of what I have gotten from my yard. Lol. Now you'll understand why my neighbors are talking and my husband says it looks like we have gophers .. Lmao, I can't help myself! I'm so intriqued by every scrap of old junk on my property.... Somebody else was here, as alive as I am today, and just busy living. Never thinking 200 years from now somebody would be fascinated by them and their " junk".
