The 150 has only 5 target notches the 250 has 12. The 150 doesn't have a notch elimination button. The 150 does not have a pinpoint feature. The 250 is well worth the extra 50$. You can compare them at www.garrett.com

theres 3 big differances for $50 bucks --- pin pointing is one -- 5 vs 12 target groups is two--- notch out ability is three --- the 250 is well worth the extra $50 bucks over the 150

I would agree on that too.

Absolutely spend the extra $50 bucks. I don't know why Garrett even bothered to produce the Ace 150.
I really don't think your be very happy with the thing. Your right: you don't hear much about the Ace 150; that should speak volumes! To be honest, I wouldn't even buy it for a kid!

Good luck.

Robert roy,
I don't know why they build the 150 either. Some people buy a 150 and think the 250 is not much better. We all know it's way better.

I have seen some Youtube videos with lots of ACE 150s in them. I guess that the european market is bigger with the 150. Probably more affordable for some of the old communist block countries. By the way - they were never allowed to detect over there until the fall of the Berlin Wall. I spent 3 years in Germany from 1987 through 1990. Metal detecting was not allowed there due to too many unexploded ordinances.

Hey

You can down the 150 all you want, but I can find the exact same targets with my 150 as my friend who has the 250.  The pinpointing feature just makes his hunt a tad bit easier thats all.

Anyways if you are gonna pay 200 or more I would definitely check out the 250 or the Fisher F-2. They are both similar in ability.

Yeah if i could do it over i would get a 250 or an f2...so I just have to go from here, I will probably get a probe.

They weigh the same. The 150 has 5 notches the 250 has 12. The 150 doesn't have notch accept or reject. The 150 doesn't have a pinpoint feature the 250 does. I personally think for $50.00 the 250 can do a lot more than the 150. Two other features of the pinpoint feature is that you can tell the size of your target. Also you can more tell if you have a coin the way the tone fades in PP mode. It is true that the 150 will find the same targets as the 250. But the 250 can keep you from digging some of the trash and digging smaller recovery holes.

Comp-u-plus has the Ace 250 listed for $175 + $15 shipping now. That's not a whole lot more than I see 150's listed for.

I use a 150, I got it because it fit my budget at the time and I do pretty good with it. It drives me nuts in really trashy areas but thats my only complaint. I am planning to upgrade soon though, and hopefully get a machine that will get past some of the iron masking that I run into.
