Ace 250 should be changed to the "Silver Dime Master Blaster".

I see a lot of Ace 250 owners finding tons of silver dimes, Garrett should change the name of the unit to the "Silver Dime Master Blaster".
What do you guys think?

For the money I think it is the best detector out there. Probably matches up to the $800.00 machines.
I will probably buy one just to compare it to my other detectors. Hell, it is cheaper then the Coiltek coil I just bought for my Minelab. I can leave it in my tool box on my truck and never have to worry about it being stolen like I would if my Minelab Explorer SE $1400.00 or my Whites XLT $1000.00 and it will be with me at all times.

I wish they could take the best of every detector and make it into one. :D Yes, so far from what I have seen the Ace is the dime finding machine. A Master Blaster!

I'd have to agree with this........I have about 15 hours into the 250 and it will blast off when over a dime. Not even a quarter seems to do this. Most of the dime hits I've had made me think twice before digging, as I thought they were squashed cans from the amount of talking the 250 does.

This is not just the Ace, by the way.

For years I wouldn't hunt with anything but a Tesoro. I tried a Whites and an old Big Bud, but that was it. You couldnt run me down and give me anything else - especially not one of them crappy Garrett's. Then, my hunting friend, Jim, had to go out of town for about 6 months and let me borrow his old CX II. I thought it was about the clunkiest looking wrist-wrecker I'd ever seen, but it was free to use, so what they heck!

A few days later, I was hunting in a yard with my son, when I got a small sort of signal with my Tesoro. It was pretty weak so I passed it over as being insignificant.
Now, this was the first time I'd had the CX II out of the car and Daniel had taken some rather perverse liking to it, so I let him use it. After all, it was his time he was wasting.
A short time later I lifted my headphones to hear him hollering at me. He was standing on the same spot I had just passed over.
"Hey Dad, what does it mean when this thing bongs out so loud? And, look, the needle keeps pointing to 'dime'."
I went over and sure enough the old warhouse Garrett was Belltoning and pointing at 'dime' like some deranged bird dog.
"Hmmmm, I dunno, son, I just went over this spot. Lemme check it with 'Ol Trusty here," and I waved my Tesoro's coil over the spot.
"As I said, it's still just barely there. But, it can't be much from the sound of it - goofy old thing's probably out of whack."
I was about to have my opinion changed, real fast.

"But, you always say, 'You never know till you dig it up,' right? What the heck, let's dig it on up!" he said.
"Sure, go ahead, if you want."
Well, he dug... and dug. After several scoops of soil had been removed, he stood up with something in his hand. He just stood there looking at it - he knew better than to rub on it.
"I dont know what it is. Can you tell?" and he handed it to me.
I brushed a little of the loose dirt off and saw a reeded edge. Then I spied several stars on it and a funny little doll-like figure sitting down. At that moment the date reached out and slapped me silly: 1842
The target I had heard, but passed over as insignificant, was an 1842-O dime, in VF-XF condition.

The goofy old, clunky Garrett had signalled on it like it was lying right on the coil, while my beloved Tesoro barely even reacted by comparison. I was dumbfounded. I went on to have this scene repeated several times, finding older coins deeply buried, yet "boonnging" out clearly from that old Garretts headphone jack. Jim came back from his trip and I had to give that lovely, sweet old Garrett back to him.

I've had a Garrett of my own ever since.
