I'm thinking about getting an ACE 250. Will this do the trick and help me find relics, jewelry and coins? Can I use this or do I need the at pro or at gold? Thanks

Ace 250 is great starter machine will find coins gold rings etc and will keep good resale price - at pro lot better but different price range - I went from 250 to pro much prefer pro but won't sell my 250 keeping it for my daughter

I did the same as petey, I kept my 250 and my grandson uses it.

Ok thanks for the advice, but what's the difference? Do they both detect the same metals and its just that the at pro/gold is stronger with more depth?

Pro has proportional audio instead of binary beeps makes it much better at differentiating good vs. bad targets - pro miles faster recovery rate - pro fully waterproof to ten feet and with the 5 x 8 coil as opposed to the stick coil it's a killer machine different league than 250

Thanks for the advice, but on the garrett website it says that the stock coil is waterproof

The cool is waterproof. The At Pro is fully waterproof, deeper, has ground balance and has proportionate audio and target ID numbers. The 250 will work fine in normal soil.

I would start with the 250, its a little simpler to use and you can always upgrade if you like the hobby. The 250 is no toy and you will make good finds with it, if your hunting good spots.

Buy the Ace 250 & a pro-pointer and a good shovel,so if you don't like it,you can always sell it as a package and get some money for it.Other than that I have found some gold(10k) braclets, several silver earings, and lots & lots of coins, est.about $6.50 in coins, since April 2013.

I just recently bought my ace 250 and I love it. Immediately I found 5 bullets from ww2. This machine is great and I recommend no resale, just keep it as you upgrade!!!

My first detector was the ace 350 and that machine was like a vac on coins and found my oldest coin with it also a 1893 barber dime. I upgraded to the pro cause I like river hunting. I would still have my 350 but had to sell so wife would let me buy the pro. The 250 is pretty close to 350 so it's a great detector.
