I know lots of guys who have tinkered with the ACE Series machines. They have added buttons, lights, toggle switches, water-proofed the machine, painted it etc. It's fun for some guys to tinker (myself included) with these machines. Warranty isn't really an issue, as the worst case scenario of frying the ACE isn't that much of a financial loss. Doing mods on metal detectors is fun and another spin off for the hobby of metal detecting as is coin collecting, relic collecting, photography and so on. Some of these mods are very simple to do. I say "HAT'S OFF" to those for doing a mod and showing the rest of us how to do it. Of course doing mods isn't for everyone either, and that's OK too. ;D

So please try to explain the which wires go for pinpoint and which ones go for volume control. Thanking you in advance. ;D

does that potentiometer block the jack for the headphones? also, can you explain the new pinpoint?

Why do all these Mods...all you need todo is buy the Sunray YF-1 Pinpointer which beats the hec out of
the pinpointer that Garrett built in because it uses the control head settings by just flipping a swith
its like useing a mini coil which is a hec of a lot more accureit

Example if you have Iron Disc out when you flip the switch it still Disc out the IRON signal

and for the Volume Control just buy the Koss UR-30 or Better headphones which has a volume control

Once you've used a machine w/ the Sunray you'll never goback

NO Wireing, No Mistakes

Xterra may win on common sense and logic,

but I'll give the Estonian full points for effort!

John is right on the money.
The Little Yeller Feller is a good choice to mod.

We've got to get the Estonian a Tesoro Compadre!
See what he can do with THAT little jewel...

Perhaps best, are the Otter Ace mods.
If I had not sold mine, I would have dunked it.

Too cool Estonian........nice and neat work and configuration!

I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but a simple way I use to turn the sound down on my Ace 250 is to put tape over the sound holes underneath the detector. I found leaving two or three holes open is just about right for detecting in areas where I don't want to attract too much attention to myself.

My low-tech tip.

Dr. Ace
