Relic Hunting
With Josh working and Doug’s daughter from Texas visiting today, I made a solo return trip to one leg of the U.S. Civil War Infantry camp Triangle and hunted the North camp where I dug 5 dropped bullets last Monday. I dug a dropped .58 and .69 to add to the box from Triangle camp #1. I consolidated my relics from Camp #1 and #3 into one box as shown. The Tennessee Trio recovered 232 relics from triangle Camp #2 in 2014 as it was previously undiscovered. Thanks for looking, Q.
Watch for my article “One Relic short of 500” in the May issue of W & E Treasures Magazine. See Doug standing in a rifle pit-LOL.

Great going Q! Yipes! I could not imagine anyone being shot with one of those fat boys.
Congrats on the newest article too!!
Nana :hello:

Loved that heel plate you showed early, and that candle holder, especially. Q, what are those two small iron horizontal pieces on either side of the holder about mid-way down the case?

One is a ramrod cleaning jag and the other is a ramrod extension for an Austrian-Lorenz rifle (per a local relic dealer). I dug a "Y" shaped Austrian-Lorenz rifle tool in another part of that encampment PW so they had that weapon. Thanks, Q.

Quindy,
If you keep going out to detect by yourself, I'm going to change your name from "The Tenn Trio", to "The Lebanon Loner". :laughing7:
Congrats on the sweet CW lead Buddy. What is the coin (?) above the two bullets? ???

I noticed in the video you had a shot of your relic room and there was a General Lee blanket. Do you need a Sherman one also? :tongue3:
Glad you got out again, and l@@king forward to reading your new article in W&ET mag.

Don't need any Sherman anything but a tank MM-LOL. The coin is a modern dime. I can't find the silver ones like you-LOL. Dman can sleep on a rock. HH, Q.

Good stuff Quindy!

Way to go. I am glad I told you about that camp and I will help you find more stuff in the future. I worry about you getting lost when you go detecting without me so be careful.

Nice lot of finds... congrats. .. I'm waiting to get to my small cw spot when it dries up a little more.. it doesn't produce much ... been pound a lot over the years...

Good to see you getting out and finding a few relics. I love finding those big .69 caliber bullets!

Nice solo hunt Quindy:icon_thumleft:

That 69 is a monster eh..It would have sucked getting hit with one of those!

This virgin U.S. camp that I found several years ago was fun to hunt because it was 1862 and the troops were issued .69 cal. Springfields. In 1863, the .69s were replaced with .58s. Thanks for looking DI2, HH, Q.

Nice, you have found allot of them.Is that two widdled one's I see?i would sure like to have them in my collection.I didn't realize that mostly the early war places is mostly the only places to find them. That might explain why I haven't been able to find any here in Spotsylvania. The war didn't come here until 1864.Next door in Manassas they had two early battles at Bull Run.First in 1861 second battle 1862.That is where I found my only two.

Thanks Nana, PW, MM, DI@, CP, Richard (Valley Ranger), P4, Donnie (tenn. digger), JB, and Rich. For obvious reasons including less lead, black powder, weight, and increased accuracy, the .58s replaced the .69s thus becoming the most common CW bullet. HH, Q.

Looks like you were making up for lost time when it was frozen with all these wonderful finds Quindy. Interesting about bullet weight and accuracy. Keep up the good work(er play!)

A very nice display, Quindy! You must have a ton of lead by now. Sometimes I wonder, just what does one do with all those bullets! ;)

Bet the article is a killer!

WTG!
