First post ... long time lurker.
I have visited a spot deep in Copper Canyon (southern part of Chihuahua, MX)
and have found some incredible things (and at the time didn't realize it);
(will soon include some pics)
1) 2 very large boulders with symbols including, but not limited to;
a) coiled snakes
b) horseshoes
c) crosses
d) circles
e) etc. etc. (to my knowledge there are no numbers or letters)
2) A compass rock set on bedrock near the "stream". It is approximately 8 feet in length, shaped like a triangle and daylight is easily seen between one half and the other, which is held "up" by three smaller stones.
3) Have found a very discrete boulder with a lone symbol (more hidden) and it resembles a cactus with center stalk removed. (we are in mountains, not desert)
4) VERY large boulders that have obviously been altered in their shape but I cannot tell what they are or why they would be. (one resembles an upside down heart - freestanding)
Anyway, it's a very tough, time consuming and expensive trip that I can only make it once a year.
I am intending to take hundreds of pics, be careful and am looking for any advice anyone may have.
Also, I am unsure of the authors of the symbols. There is several (gone now) Jesuit missions nearby but it the location is also along the "Royal Road".
Respectfully offered,
Patrick
