I went today after work and found two flat buttons one white Tombac button, half a rivet and a lead head. I think the head is WW1 or WW2 era just by looking at the hat on its head. It looks like a lead toy solider. The flat buttons didn't have any backmarks but the one has a very nice design on the front. I just found out that the "white Tombac's" has Arsenic in it. That's why they come out of the ground looking brand new, the Arsenic kills any bacteria that may corrode the button. Thanks ( thecannonballguy) for the info. Thanks for looking and HH!

WERE YOU GOING TO SAY--THERES NOTHING THE MATTER WITH FINDING A LITTLE HEAD ?

Great assortment of finds.

I'm glad I'm not alone in getting head now... I mean FINDING heads. Pretty cool stuff and love the flower design button. Too cold and rainy for me man!

Thank you everybody. There were probably better ways of wording my title, but oh we'll.

Great to have finds in the evening. I went last evening and found two nickles and a dime just in my yard because I only have a little daylight after work. Great finds.

Thank you Quindy, it may be its big but not quit as big as the dandy buttons I find. I've been on a flat button kick lately. I've found as many this year so far as I did all of last year!

Yea!! You have found what three or four heads so far.

The soldier appears to be WWII from the pi$$ cutter hat, but I'd expect it predates WWII because the metal/lead toys really disappeared quickly when the war started. I was 5 1/2 years old at the start, and was playing with stuff like that, so vaguely remember. A WWI pizz cutter looks really different than the later ones, but I can't see enough of it to be sure. So if I was to guess, I'd say sometime in the late 30's. One thing I do remember, as boys will do if they aren't watched all the time, several of us were playing with matches, and those WWII plastic soldiers would really burn. Then we discovered they melted and dropped globs of burning plastic. At the time B-17's and B-29's were dropping bombs on Germany and Japan. There was a huge line of ants along the concrete gutter, and we became B-17's dropping fire bombs on ants. Of course the bombing raids stopped when we ran out of all green plastic soldiers.

i'll never forget my first head...

That head lol is kinda creepy looking, great buttons and saves, congrats!!!!

Hey Ryan,

Your head is off of a Barclay #B102, Listed in their company catalog as "Soldier, Stretcher Bearer, open hand." Made between 1935-1950. Only three figures in their extensive line of lead soldiers wore the overseas cap, this being one of them. Great hunting! Sub

Another reason I detect you get silver, gold. And head

Thanks Sub! Does any of the figures show something on the left side of there head. Mine has a small hole where his left ear would be.
Thanks!
