A friend of mine who is in the construction and remodeling business is working on a old secluded mansion on the beach. The property is very private and has no access what so ever to the public. So he was telling me last week about the job and the property which is over 75 yrs old. He was talking about the house and the land right on the beach and then he mentioned that they had cut a personal swimming hole out of the shallow reef in front of the house. "it is in the shape of a keyhole he says, it has a path to walk out to a round swimming hole in the middle of the reef" right away, I'm thinking about the possibilities of checking it out. So he went in to work and asked the new owners if I could metal detect the beach and swimming hole and they replied "absolutely not" I was bummed and then I started thinking that if I could access it from the ocean they couldn't stop me because ownership on beach property ends at the high water mark on the beach. Without a boat or even a kayak not to mention the really shallow reef I realized I'd have to swim to the spot which I did this afternoon. There is a right of way about a quarter mile from the property and the swim with detector was not to bad until I started my return to my starting point when I realized that I had to fight the current and wind swells. I made it back okay. I don't when or how they cut this out of the reef because it was a work of art. The path out was about 10 yards long leading to a almost perfect round swimming hole about 20 ft in diameter. Both the path and the hole were filled with sand and had a steady flow of fresh salt water circulating through. Anyway, really nice spot. I have enclosed a couple pictures of the finds. Not many targets at all but some goodies indeed. Someone must have liked blue stones because there was a mans 14k and a womens crusty 10k both with blue stones. A badly corroded class ring and a few silver coins. A great adventure indeed.

Very nice and well deserved finds! Congrats! :hello2::hello2::hello2:

Interesting to note the older 10K rings do get quite corroded.

Way to go man...congrats on those great finds...did the property owners give any reason they were so opposed to you detecting?

I never got to talk to them personally and I didn't want to get my buddy in trouble with his job.
