Hi I found this agate years ago on private property in North Eastern Minnesota. After looking at it a second time I seen it's more than just a agate. It has a good resemblance of a finger tip. From the end knuckle to tip. This under magnification looks just like skin. The size, color, and a visible fingerprint. The fingernail intact and visible. And what really shows it is in fact a petrified or agatized finger, it matches a medical x-ray cross section of a human finger tip. The capillary vessels are even seen. Take a look and compare my specimen to the diagram.
I found it on private property on the Laurentian Iron formation, in North Eastern Minnesota. This location was once a inland salt water ocean, with glacier and permafrost that went deep into the ground. At the bottom of the ocean volcanic activity, iron ore deposit, and permafrost. Perfect conditions for study tissue petrification to take place.
I have friends that family that have been working in the medical field for a long time examine it. And they believe it's a human finger as well.
I tried universities with emails and pictures, but I didn't get much in response. I plan on bringing it to the university of Minnesota if I ever have time to do so... Maybe then they will have more interests having it in hand vs pictures.
