Age and Symbol Help

Cannot find any thing similar to the marks on this carving to try and place a time frame as to when it was made.
There is a mark on the back however I'm do not know if that is a maker's mark or not. Also I am not 100% certain
what this represents? Looks like maybe a cross between a cat and? What I do know "he's a happy little guy"
Any help in find the era and possible who and where this was made is appreciated.............Thanks to all..

Having spent some time as a tourist in Mexico, my best guess is, your carving is a Mexican/Aztec representation of a dog or coyote.
