Hey guys, as you can tell I'm not an active TN user, due to a lack of free time and bad weather I rarely get to detect nowadays [emoji53]. After 6 months of work I finally got a chance to get back into my natural habitat, being a field of course, with my AT Pro and Garrett carrot. The field produced a nice amount of different sized musket balls, random lead drops and some nice buckles. Bearing in mind the hunt only lasted 40min I can't complain with the outcome.

Now, the reason I'm writing to you guys is for your expertise on these two pieces I found on two separate occasions on a nearby field which often produced roman, Saxon up to Medieval finds. I'm puzzled as to how old these can be. I also don't know what these could've been used for.🤔

Any help or comment would be much appreciated.[emoji3]

Size? Type of metal?

I'd guess brass or bronze. Size wise approximately 6cm's long.

My age is 57. My wife reminds me on a regular basis that I no longer "function". As far as ideas, she suggested a visit to the doctor for a prescription.

Seriously though, they look very familiar to me but I Am drawing a mental blank. Once I finish this post someone will have probably posted the answer.

Interlocking buckle perhaps? Maybe for a boot? Have you tried locking them together? They both have a catch and one has three holes while the other has four.

I had to look at a conversion table to turn the 6cm into 2.36 inches. How thick are they?

Quite thin, 4mm, or 0.16 inch

There's no way I could lock them together. I found them maybe 150m apart so I don't think they go together. There was a battle on that field in 1702 so I'm hoping it could link to that.
