Re: Age on copper cross pendant ??

Are you sure it is copper? Is that rust on the surface? If so, it's probably not copper. Does it attract a magnet? There are literally thousands of religious metals in all shapes and sizes and made out of many different types of metals. I don't think we can determine the age by the shape since that shape has been used from early times to modern. I always enjoy finding jewelry of any kind. Neat find, Breezie

Re: Age on copper cross pendant ??

Thanks Breezie,
copper reading when found. saltwater environment makes for some odd patinas.
IronSpike,
I don't know a lot about religious pendants,
thanks for the info on this being a long running design, I have only seen this shape in posts from those hunters from Spain
Does anyone know what the image on the right arm of the cross represents?
The examples in the link show what looks like someone being bitten on the neck.
Thanks again, Green check on this

I thought it was him...

Four Way Cross Medal
Also known as a cruciform, it is actually four medals in one. The Sacred Heart at the top, St. Christopher on the right, Miraculous at the bottom, and St. Joseph on the left and the words "I am a Catholic, please call a priest." inscribed on the back.

Thanks Mike!
I have seen St Christopher Medals and ones that say "I am Catholic"
The imagery on the ones in Ironspikes link show St Christopher carrying a 'Christ Child' on his back, Now understood.
Best to all!
