Is that mainland? I was stationed on Adak for 13 months in the early seventies.It was called the "Birthplace of the Winds".

Yes.........all 3 pics were taken on the mainland by a good friend who spent a year traveling around Alaska and NW Canada. What was it like being stationed on Adak?
 

It was back in the early 70s when I was stationed there in the Navy. I worked 24 hrs on and 24 hrs off. On my off day I worked at the officer's club because there wasn't anything to do and I got good food there. I didn't have a metal detector then either so, for the 13 months I was there it was mostly work and sleep. I did get to do a little hunting and do remember catching King crab in knee deep water. Man, were they ever good to eat.

Can you imagine what could have been found out by the old docks with a MD?
Being there for 7 years, I don't believe I ever saw anyone MDing.
 

Not only by the old docks but around the pill boxes might have produced some good finds as well.
