Well, Alpha105, my friend Josh accepted my invite to come out to CA for gold. He flew out on Fri past. I gauranteed gold so we went to the nearby Coyote Creek, Natural Bridges day use area. Also along was Mike Rudolph. Mike goes to his own "spots" and I usually go upstream. Josh and I set up the Jobe Yellow Jacket 45 so we could get a good riffle flow. The Jobe sluice I'm using is part of their Highbanker setup minus "the works". I like it because I can stick the bottom end into a bucket without "swinging" the riffles away. Just back it away. The black pan is Mike's take and the green is ours. Not much for an honest two hours of digging, but ALWAYS color from "The Bridges"! This was Josh's first panning adventure so he is very pleased. Thanks for coming out Josh. Come on back out! TTC

It was fun to get out with you guys......been awhile. Was more than worth the trip, and the steaks were great =P. The 6 hours of flying was the only downside, but very well worth it! Gonna have to come back sometime soon with the wife.

Very nice guys. Congrats Josh on your first panning gold. :hello2: Nothing quite like finding some shine is there? Thanks for the pictures and the story and best of luck in your future hunts!

I went to natural bridges once. No gold for me, but I was only panning.
Hey Dunc,
I'll tell you EXACTLY where I'm finding mine. Go down the path from the parking lot. Go upstream of "the bridges" till you see the wide open, flat bedrock. Go down to the stream. Turn to go upstream... in the water. You are getting wet now from walking in the water. About 100 yards upstream from the flat rocks is a boulder on the right. It is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet across. You will see a portion of it that we chiseled away. We dug underneath till it rolled to the stream. Dig in the hole behind it that was underneth it as it previously lay. You will find gold! One or two pans won't do it. Dig till you find it. It is there! As I have mentioned in previous posts, I don't mind telling where I go on public lands. Just please, leave only footprints behind! GL TTC

Gold is Gold . It's all good . :icon_thumright:

Terry.....im thinking about making my own sluice for some trials around here.....mind sending me some pics of yours, with the inner working taken apart?

Yes, I can do that, friend. I'll be sending them soon with my ideas of improvements. Oh, BTW, I did not post the pic of your face and the pan because, with the camera two feet away, THE GOLD DID'NT SHOW UP!!! ha ha TTC

Lol, next time you wont be able to see the pan with soo much gold

Man I am dying to get out of here and do some digging. Alpha here is a pick of my sluice.

The Hungarian rifles flip over for slower water flow.
I added the ribbed mat to catch the fine gold.
I am also using some miners moss at the end.
The ribbed carpet you can find at home depot as a door mat.
I have some extra stuff laying around the garage.

Bumpstick....u find anything up here?

Flour and Dust. No pickers.
I have been classifying material and using a desert fox wheel and the blue bowl.
I recently purchased a Gold Bug detector to help my illusive search for AU
It has an FE scale that shows the mineral content in the soil. No sense in digging a mile of creek.
I found a hot spot in a stream that I have dug a couple of buckets and working it down at home.
I know it is there just trying to master the best extraction method.
The sluice box will work with gold flakes but the flour gold is the hardest to capture.
I have been thinking of setting up a leach tank to work over the fines.
Then there is the rock crusher idea that comes and goes.
