i sold some roofing caps.....like on a flat roof over the brick.........only got like 20.00 .........i kind of felt ripped off..........cause they were heavy and long, about 10' long 10" wide, in a U shape..........

oh i'm a novice scrapper

Don't feel bad, you probably got paid sheet alu. which can pay as low as 30 cents to 65 cents here in VA. It takes a lot to add up. Believe it or not, sheet alu. seems like it weighs a lot but it tends not to. Save it up for next time!

Have to watch the scrap yards, some will rip you.

Roofing or sheet metals tend to not pay as much because of their size and handling issues. Pain in the butt hauling sheets around. What you need to watch for is, what grade they are paying you at, and if they gave you 'clean' or 'dirty' prices for it. Ask next time before selling what they will pay you and negotiate then, because once they weighed it and haul it in the back, its pretty much a done deal and you get what they pay you.
