I have been going through the stuff I found over the years and getting rid of the junk and cleaning the good stuff.
I found this a couple years ago in the water and really thought it was a costume bracelet. It looked corroded and looked like junk.
I saw this and was about to put it in the junk pile and recently got a gold test kit and thought lets practice on it and see what it tests at.
I scraped the gold color on the stone and the 14K acid didn't do a thing.
I was shocked. I took the loop and low and behold I see a tiny little "925" & "14k" on the gold ball end
The first picture is the way I found it, the second is after a half hour in Tarn-x and a lot of scrubbing and the last is after polishing.
Overall its 18 grams but most of its silver
Unfortunately its damaged probably trying to dig it out of the surf so its only good for scrap. Could have sold it more as jewelry.

The moral of the story it to CHECK EVERYTHING- you never know.

Very interesting piece for sure. Checking twice pays off!

Its copying an Iron Age (Celtic) Torc. Pretty cool.

If that is a David Yurman, it may be worth silly coin still.

Nice bracelet.

Cool find....

Saw your post and went to my "box-full-of-crappy-finds" and yes, mine has a hallmark!
Just need to clean it up a bit more!

Thanks!

Yep that "always check and make sure you know what if is before you throw it away" line can't be emphasized enough!
Some of the metals they mix gold with do tarnish and discolor, even gold can end up with a film of crud of some type on it that hides what it is. Always check. Been there done that.

Bought David Yeurman that looks just like it for my wife. Let me know where you can find those in the ground and next time I'll kill two birds with one stone.

A scale and test kit are as important as any other tool. I just bought mine and am still learning- your post is a helpful reminder lawsonland. Also the bracelet is very nicely cleaned.
