I went to my local dump bank today with $250 worth of dimes (a skunk box), and after the coin machine was through counting my ticket only said $211.60. I told a teller what happened, and he came and opened up the machine to look for any coin spillage within.

When we didn't find the missing 384 dimes (that sure is a lot to miscount) inside the machine he said he would get a supervisor for me. I told the supervisor that my daughter and I collect dimes for her album, and I was 100% sure that I had $250 in dimes when I walked in since we didn't find any she needed from a full bank box. Without hesitation the supervisor said don't worry I will take care of it, and made me whole.

The moral of this tale is that you should always have a pretty good, if not exact, idea of how much you are dumping.

TD Bank's coin counter already shorted me 50 cents one time but put me ahead by $1.10 another time. Don't ask me how the .10 got there since I only dumped halves.

TD Bank's coin counters stink. I generally only dump halves and their machines are only set up to hold $100 in the bag before it has to be replaced. The machines in a couple of the TD Banks in my area will not even accpt half dollars. And the ones who do and the few times I've gone in, several times the counter totaled out in odd money. The tellers always say it's coins from the previous customer which did not get counted. I do not trust their machines with anything except pennies.

I totally agree, I have been shorted everytime by TD Bank and had enough, never go there to dump unless you want to give money away.

I only dump pennies and nickles at TD. What you saw with the dimes is a classic example! The poster who mentioned checking the penny bag, I agree, thats where they went.

Its nice when I buy penny bags...but its a lesson about dumping.

I guess the TD machine I use are better maintained as I rarely have a problem with them being off. If anything, I usually come out ahead by whatever was stuck from previous customers.
I only do halves...

Bad counts dont always end up in the penny bag. I had a bad dime count recently and the penny bag had no dimes in it.
