I returned to the field I had been hunting earlier in the week. For two days of hunting, I ended up with a variety of old coins and miscellaneous items. I believe I have located the site of a ghost town that disappeared in the 1870s due to the age of the coins. I found no Indians, wheats, or silver in the area. The soil was littered with deep iron at 6 to 12 inches. I will return in search of more old coins! Hopefully silver. The descriptions are in a photo. Most of the day was cold and windy. I was also digging through frozen ground. I can't wait until next year!

The large cents range from 1830s to 1850s.
My first flying eagle!
My first Canada bank token.
The 2 cent is in spectacular condition.
I believe the button is from the 1830s.
I was unable to find any information on the store card token, leading me to believe it is an R9 or R10 rarity. Other than the info on the coin, I have no other information. Any other information is greatly appreciated.
The little glass bottle is interesting. I don't know the markings on the bottom.

Altogether 12 coins predating 1872.

Thanks for looking!

Wow....... now that was a great day. More LC's than I have found in many years at it. Congrats:icon_thumleft:

Incredible 2 cent piece!! Applause!

Awesome stuff. I never found a 2 cent piece.

Hi Ground Inspector. REAL NICE DIGS...Congrats! I am still digging for my 1st 2-center and Flying Eagle. I see a RR baggage tag there. What does it say? Thanks for posting HH.

Sweet finds! Keep pounding that field as long as possible!

I'll second what others have been saying about the 2-center: I've only found one and it was in great shape. For whatever reason, the ground seems to be kind to them. I didn't see any mention of the thimble, which from here appears to be silver. How about a series of closeups with that? That's a nice piece by itself. I've probably found 8 or 10 thimbles and only two were silver.

Great finds! the two cent is awesome! HH!

Amazing find,, congrats!

I cleaned one of the unknown discs, and turns out it is another large cent.
It is 10.6 grams and 30 mm dia. I believe it is the variety from 1816-1836 (matron head).
It should be ~29 mm, so it was compressed somehow.
It also has N N N stamped on the face. Anyone know what that means?

Found some interesting bullets on that trip as well.
