I'll admit i've been pretty impressed with the yanks so far! They played well against us (not hard really lol) and today came from 2-0 down to draw (tie) 2-2 and have what sounds like a perfectly good winner disallowed (i missed that) shows some real fighting spirit! Well done USA

Good as they've been though,they still can't take my mind of Casillas' girlfriend!!

Packer found an article about Ilka Casillas the Spain keeper making a cock up.He was interviewed after the game by a journalist who happens to be his girlfriend..that's her,the hot chick further up the thread.When she told him "that was a dumb mistake wasn't it?" he stormed off in a huff!

Firing as many as 6 shots in a minute for sustained volleys, massed archery fire could begin to dwindle the numbers and resolve of an opponent starting at about 200 yards range. Over the next 100 years, the English longbow with its yard long arrow and armor-piercing bodkin point would give a striking arm to the little bands of brothers from England that would empty the saddles of knights from the low-countries, France and Italy. The hours of practice needed to master the powerful bows (some of which exceeded 120 pounds draw weight) made archery the national sport of England by royal decree.

Close enough sometimes..and here's another little known fact:

The English use of the two fingered "V" sign for "f%& off" comes from this period in history! When French archers were captured it was common practice to cut off one of their two fingers that were used to draw the bowstring. At the next battle,the English archers would stand and wave two fingers at the French to say "we've still got ours!"
While the French would make a similar gesture using their 1 remaining draw finger. Because the Americans didn't like us,and the French helped them fight us off..they adopted the 1 fingered salute as their official "flip",rather than the English 2 fingered "flip"!
