Seems like a great day to be outside……….

was Awesome. clouds got a Little thick for maybe 20 minutes making the breeze feel
cool, but it was at the right time.

I only wish I had the energizer Bunnies Energy :(

Love all the visual map history - there's just gotta be some old coins and jewelry in there somewhere !

Found Colonial coin and up here in the past. It's there. But the place is loaded with pennies & trash
I cherry picked around most of the trash today

Still believe a place can't get hunted out? :icon_scratch: ;)

I also agree.

I have hunted places to the point I couldn't find a Memorial
& Come back in a year or 2 & find Indians, & Barbers :laughing7:
they just need a little ground movement from moisture, Freezes etc.

And of course you cannot swing over every square inch of Ground from every possible angle in a life time

Yeah , you do have to slog thru the rubbish - but also the earlier generation of detectorists in the 60's and 70's may well have "hoovered"
up the easy pickings , go low and slow - there's gonna be goodies in there .

Great old pix and maps Jeff.
Our high school now sits on the location of our old (early 1900) fairgrounds. I've always wondered what all got buried at that spot. It is pretty much manicured now. An original barn still stands across the street from the high school though. Hmmmmm.:icon_scratch:

Hmmmmm :laughing7: You should also check the Parameter or the School Grounds if Possible.
Just in case they left some of the land original,
Or young Couples headed to any woods nearby at the time

Well, ya know, I almost believe that, but there are a couple fields I would LOVE to see the "experts" go over and prove it isn't empty. ;) LOL

Of course, being hunted out has to include the aspect that there was ever anything there in the first place. Still, if I find 1 penny does that mean there's more? LOL

60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's, 2010's
I usually don't like to be a dooms slayer, but this time I have to drop the bomb.
There has to be a point that 99.9 % of the really good finds are gone.
This is, at this point of my, VERY green, metal detecting career, my opinion.

What do you guys that have 20 or 30 years think and have hit spots like this? I believe there are probably spots around with this capability, But what about well known spots like this?
This could really help a new comer upper like myself.
Thanks in advance.
Brad

Let me try to explain something I've always believed.

How long have metal detectors been around? Then, knowing that, how long have people been losing things?

Do we REALLY believe that everything could be found in the last 50-100 years? When people have been losing things ever since there were people?

One thing to keep in mind, there are many, many variables in that dime you just dug up, AND, the one a foot away that you never could've seen because of a host of things.

Go to ANY place you hunt and if it wasn't a pasture all the back to the original garden of Eden, there's a chance. Hunt like you know there are things to find, they will turn up.

Hope that helps!

I always believed for every One you get, You miss at least 1.
So if you find a seated half, what are the odds you found the only one there ?
I say not good. So there is another there. Find that one, there must be another :icon_thumleft:

as For Fields ?
I hate fields. Most Are empty or like finding a needle in a Country size Haystack :(

thinned out, but not gone

allot of the problem is If you go to a Park & find a Seated dime.

every time you enter that park, Like a Magnet you will be drawn to that area.

You won't pay as much attention when you walk elswhere & find a zinclon, You will go back to the seated area.

You won't find anything in that area after awhile, But your Mind will tell you the park is Hunted out.

It's not, It's your Preception

A dream spot to hunt! Great stuff! The "scrunchie" thing is a macrame bracelet (I think). Keep hunting and keep us posted!

$2.00 plus in change......I would have thought you would have hit more considering the fair was there just a little over a month ago. I KNOW that place is not empty but I firmly believe we won't get the goodies without an open search pattern and a very slow approach. If you remember the last two times I was there I pulled silver out of one small area around the north side.

Glad to see you and Bruce got out to enjoy the weather!!

Yea I would love to be able to Concentrate & clean a small Area at a time,
But my patience & energy Level makes that seem wasteful for Me.
especially When I can only do short hunts.

With the amount of targets here, I feel I do much better in the long run
walking around hoping to swing over the correct spots.

The silver is still there, that's no doubt,

But I personally have to Cherry pick by tone here till Cherry picking leaves me with
less then a quarter, Then back off a little on my Mental Discrimination,
and take some lower sounding targets, till it's necessary to drop lower.

I used to love getting up & down digging targets what seemed like every 30 seconds,
for 4 or 5 hours (exaggeration to make point of course), at the Evil Pool, I can't do that for 5 or 6 minutes straight anymore :tongue3: :( :BangHead: of course odds were better on keepers there too
