Cowpens Revolutionary War Battle site.

We just got back from one of our much needed yearly vacations today. We visited Charleston S.C. and stayed in a beautiful beach house on Folly Island S.C. On our way back, I asked Maggie if she would like to visit the Cow pens Revolutionary War battle site located just 45 minutes from our home. She agreed and we proceeded to tour the amazing facility.
We started with a short video and then took a mile long walk completely around the site. Having much love for the history of Civil and Revolutionary war history, this was a dream come true for Maggie and I.

These soldiers had to bear extreme cold in the winters and blistering heat in the summer. Sharing the woods with chiggers, ticks snakes and even Wolves!
This battle could have decided this neck of the woods to be British vs. American soil. It was that crucial! It could have went either way, but we were smarter on the battle field that day.
We out witted the Brits and beat them in this battle hands down. I highly recommend a visit here at this site.
Below are some cast prints of an actual RW soldier in firing position. The average height of a soldier during the war was 5'5 inches tall. Small Lad's eh?

I sure was :D

It has been raining real hard around here. There is no telling what will wash up in those wash outs!

Hey, Mike, I have been checking this forum out daily to see if you had any posts. Thanks for the pics of the Rev. war site. I have been talking to my wife about taking a trip to Valley Forge. It is only 1 hour and 50 minutes from our home, so I think we may do it one of these days. I will have my camera handy to take some Colonial pictures. :hello2:

Your baby girl gets more beautiful by the day. :) Keep on shooting the pics, Mike. :icon_thumleft: You and Maggie were definitely blessed. :)

Thanks Kirk Buddy.
This is a site you should see. You definitely get that feeling something happened there. I am told the "Kings Mountain"site is even better. All this is so close to us. I should be detecting closer to home I guess.

Hello, Mike, A great post here. The pics were all interesting and especially liked the one of the Sword Clash on Green River.

Boy that would have been some rough fighting in those days. That would be such a fascinating site to tour around.

Little Sammy is really growing and so cute. I am really sorry that we couldn't get to go down your way to visit with you
folks and tour your state. There are some places there that I would love to visit.

Thanks for sharing.

Watch out for the Grasshopper.

That's a great photo tour. I don't feel much connection to the Revolutionary War, but I'm glad our side won, I guess.
