Was out swinging a detector today for the first time in about 3 months. Felt good to be out in the sand, near the water with women all around me in bikinis
, but I digress....
At the high-tide line underneath some seaweed I turned up a 1927 "wheatie" penny --- my previous oldest was 1942 (found in a much more likely spot several months back). I looked it up and since it wasn't minted at the Denver mint or San Francisco's it's fairly common. But in what appears to be EF-40 ("extra fine" condition) it would be worth .50 to a dealer. Didn't have to pay the meters out there either for 3 hours of sun and fun. To borrow a quote from an old Michelob commercial: "Some days are better than others." Also, for those who read my previous post a week or two ago about my new "work wife" things are still rolling along at a steady, but frantic pace. Now, you can understand why I don't have the energy to be out making more finds....
