I've been twenty five years after a wreck just east of a tiny reef some 15miles SW of Key West.? I have a final judgement Adimiralty Arrest and all the necessary NOAA Sancturary Permits to proceed.? Just this last April we did a sub-bottom profile survey of the area and sure enough the wreck is there, exactly where it should be!!!
So we dug a test hole in the five feet of clay-like overburden and reached the teredo worm crust that was formed by the aforementioned teredo that ate all the wood of the ship.? We then chipped our way through the crust and found definite evidence of "ship's life"? between the crust and bedrock.? All monumental events!!!
