Hello folks! Here are a couple of pictures I want to share with you and seek some advice. Could this be an ancient river channel? Its on the side of a hill but the river itself is pretty far from this place. Any thoughts? What you guys think? Looks like a bench to me. I see a sand layer too.

I understand this is a hill that was cut in half to build a main highway through it back in the early 70’s. I think this might have a couple of years, if not thousands of years buried?

I'd hit that area(in2nd.Pix) with a gold pan and or.Classify some material haul it to a water supply and run it through a sluice.Never know..Good luck.

Taking all things into consideration, I guess what really matters is if the rocks and stones in the area have sharp corners/edges or worn rounded corners created by water at some point in time. Further investigative research of the area is needed.

What RTR said and from the pics some of the rocks do look water worn.

Also a Falcon MD-20 will save you a LOT of time. And it will find a single speck of Gold:)001.webp

Looks like tailings or an older gravel pile from recent times, probably road bed material.

Usually round rocks come from being tumbled for a long time in a fast flowing river but just because you can see round rocks does not mean the part of the river that could have gold in it has been exposed yet. Same rule applies sample, sample, sample so this means small scale work taking 2.5 gallon samples from several locations and panning out the samples of course keeping the samples marked so you know where along the hillside the samples came from. And of course, good luck in your search!.....................63bkpkr

curious to see if your samples reveals anything.
