Hello All,

I would like all forum members to view my photographs of what appears to be an Ancient Stone Bowl Embedded in Sandstone? The bowl itself is nearly perfectly round or oblong in shape. What perplexes me is the fact that it is partially surrounded by sandstone? I have had it for years after finding on the beach and thought now is a good time to run it by folks like you?

Any suggestions to what it could be?

Thanks

Regards

Very cool natural concretion, IMHO.

I may be way off but it could be a geode that got trapped in sandstone or a fossil of some type. I don't think it is an artifact due to how long it would take for sand stone to incase it. It a very cool item and I would have packed it home also.:headbang:

Thanks,

After looking I think you are right.

Definitely not a stone bowl. Very cool tho.

could it be some sort of beach eroded concrete form?

It has been worked. You know who I mean. It is a nice piece

Interesting. You might try posting in a thread "Got a rock you want identified". Several Rock Doc's there that might be able to answer. Good luck.

Where was this item found?

to me, the stone in the photo does not appear to be sandstone.

Its sandstone the surrounding rock that is, the stone bowl shape is a metamorphic rock of some form or another. I still like it an I am going to keep to due its strange shape. Its a unique conversation piece.
