Here's the latest find from the site of the George Noland farm west of Kansas City, Mo. Noland was a member of Quantrill's guerrillas and attended all of the raider's reunions. His black servant, John Noland, was on whom the black character in the movie "Ride with the Devil" was based.

This item is very heavy and is not a sink plug (too small) or a collar stud (too heavy). One digger ID'd it as an 18th century bottle stopper.....another said it was the stopper from a colonial powder horn. So I thought I would post here to see what you all think.

Best Regards from the Kansas - Missouri border,
Steve Warren

One of these was posted here several month back. I don't know if it was ever solved.

Thanks for the suggestion. It could be. It only has a .75 of an inch diameter. This is definitely one for Mark Parker. :icon_scratch:

The Brown Bess was .75 caliber.

It is the "button shank" on this item that is intriguing to me.
