Another button question

...This is a one piece button.... as you can see on the front EQUIPAGES DE LINGE and the back mark is L= S... googled it and got french stuff but I cant read in French.... my best guess would be 1820 -1840...some sort of merchant marine?

I found this in some of my moms stuff after she passed...not sure where she aquired it... my sister took all the "good stuff" and I got the "junk".... I love junk .

Awesome site too.... oh, sorry forgot to put something in the photo for scale.... it is very slightly larger than a Union Eagle button, if not the same size......

Equipages de Ligne literally means, "Crews of the Line," i.e., "Ships' Crews."
