Well, I tried to do as much research as I could and I'm going nowhere! What is this thing? I've been finding large copper and brass items at a extinct Mississippi River town. This piece has tiny holes punched in a line all the way around it. Thanks again!

imho...you can mark this solved...even the dimensions of the can are dead on for canned meat etc.cool find...the still(sp) is most intriguing....thay hadda eat !!!
