Went out again today. It was windy as heck but only partly cloudy so it was a good day to be out.
The large complete Besant point measures 2 5/16" 20191006_161734.webp20191006_161756.webp20191006_161829.webp20191006_161852.webp20191006_161923.webp20191006_161944.webp20191006_162052.webp20191006_162115.webp20191006_162150.webp20191006_162207.webp20191006_162019.webp20191006_162025.webp20191006_162229.webp20191006_162250.webp20191006_162306.webp20191006_162324.webp20191006_162449.webp

You bet decent day. Dandy Besant, nice size. What do you spose that triangular piece to be?

Killer finds ! You have been finding some really nice stuff lately. Some of those in-situ pics the points look like they are jumping out of the ground .... I bet you can spot some of those from a good distance away

Very nice. I absolutely love that honey colored material!

Thanks wels! I'm not too sure what that triangular one is. It might be one of those oddball Archaic triangles a person comes across every great once in a while. I don't think it was destined to have notches but it's tough to say for sure. I haven't found any Plains Side-notch points in that particular area which I would think it would end up being if notches were added.
That was my "had a good hunt" point until I found that big Besant nearby and blew it out of the water.

Thanks arrow! The thing with un-patinated Knife River Flint is that it really shines like little black spots on the ground when you get the sun to your back. It's a little tougher to see when it's cloudy or when the sun gets a bit lower and the shadows start getting longer.

Thanks Steve! I would say 98% of the artifacts in my area are made from Knife River Flint. It was an exceptional tool stone back in those days.

I don't get it... What was solved?

I really like that material that ya'll have out that way.

Those are awesome! :icon_thumright: When I was living west of you in Northeastern Montana, north of Wolfpoint, Mt. a friend of mine and myself would find those same type of points made of that KRF. My friend also found several large (2 3/4 to three inch) Pelican Lake points. After his passing I do not know what happened to his collection.

I said you were gonna pull a G10 out sooner or later! Congrats! Nice to have a place like that to hunt.

It's really rare to find anything over 2" or seems like.....unless of course it's Paleo.
