Hello all, :D

OK prolab69 and I have found the honey hole #3  this place is producing like people just went around and put coins in the ground for fun. :tongue3: We did again very well at the old school the other day. Prolab I'm sure will do his own post as to what he found. I found several good coins, the first thing I dug was the victorian buckle thingy, a cool little frog and.... ;D Next I dug my first V nickle a 1911 Sweet, its about time !!! I found some newer silver a 1949 Quarter($10 key Date) and a 1942 D War nickle some older coppers I can't ID as Indians or wheat's :icon_scratch: along with 2, 1936 buffalo nickles one you can see has all four legs. The other is a little hard to see can't tell if it is a 3 legger or not from what I see I think not. :'( I'm a little scared to try and clean any of the nickles with much more than a dry brush. :o I have had bad experiences with old nickles and water. :o

Here are some pictures, ;D

Keep @ It and HH!!

Congrats on the great hunt!

MUD, I understand your trepidation about cleaning old encrusted nickels. I have regretted cleaning them MANY times. As plehbah says they WILL become little dull gray pitted spheres.

However, I have discovered something that will significantly improve them, without over-doing them. I put one in a bag of ketchup for no longer than 24 hours. This will not remove the patina but will take off the green/crust.

Way to go I hope you continue to find more on that site. Congrats.
