I very seldom hunt parks unless there is some history to them or the area but this afternoon I was showing my 3 year old the fun of detecting and decided to hone his skills on poppin' pennies! We went to a park in an old area of the county and sure enough the pennies were fast and furious! It started to look like the find of the day was going to be a clad quarter when out popped a button! I knew it had to be something decent because it was deep and tangled in some roots by an old tree. This is the first RCAF button I've dug so it will be added to my military button collection with pride! WWII era for those that are interested. Thanks for looking!

Thanks Cru! I'm usually swinging over the older areas so I was quite pleased to pop this...even though it's relatively contemporary it still made my day!

That's a real beauty there Romeo, the Royal Canadian Air Force has just gone back to that title. It has not been named that since 1968. Great find.

Is the shank still intact?

It is funny how we tend to look at items that are 50-100 years old like they were lost yesterday, and forget it too probably has a pretty amazing story. That now said, get out there and dig a good one! :happysmiley:
