Hello again All bottle crazies! Let’s get to diggin’. Left off last time with a possible pit to dig that felt like in went under a garage. Had to move some slabs of cement to get down to business. Once I removed the cement I started to dig away to get down about two feet or so so I could re- probe to feel exactly where this one would go. Well we were right. It went under the garage. So we would have to dig far enough away from the garage and then angle in to the glass.
Got down about 5 feet or so and my shovel hit some glass. Scraped away the coal ash to see a nice big bottle. I thought it might be a beer. Then maybe a mason jar. But out popped a wax sealer. Too bad it’s not embossed! Oh well. It came out whole. Down we go. I pulled out several blank meds and an Ale bottle. Then Don got going.
He started off by pulling out some more meds. One from Chicago and pretty much slicks the rest of the time. But then he pulled out the base of yet another Union Clasped Hands Flask. But wait, it’s Apple green. Ouch. A major crier. That would have been one smoking hot bottle. Oh well, ya get what ya get. Then he pulls out an S. A. Richmond MD bottle with the guys face embossed on it. A really cool find. Samaritan Nervine is on the side panels.
Then the save of the day in my book. He pulls out a milk and yells “It’s a Thatcher.” I looked and saw that it was a pint size. I said does it have the cow embossing? He said yep but with no Quaker milking the cow. So that’s strange. I looked at it closer and saw that it didn’t have the usual The Milk Protector on it but just Bottled Milk. The reverse said milk and cream jar. Patent Sept 17, 89. I thought hmmm, not like the rest of them I’ve see in pictures mostly. I thought this just might be worth the 7 foot hole we just dug. Maybe you Milk guys can chime in. I think it’s a pretty good one. For a milk that is, cause we are kinda flask guys. Lol. Ended up with a few keepers and another Paines Celery Compound. Not a bad day full of crying and then happiness! Hope you all have some good hunts lined up. Enjoy the pics. Thanks for checking it out. Jgas.
