Well, I thought last months junk was interesting. Just pulled this metal thing out of my neighbors yard. It hit a solid 35 on my Nox 800 using park 1 settings. It is solid, it might be made of lead. It says "Willard" on it. Found it about 5 yards from a power line pole. Does anyone have a clue what this giant hockey puck thing is? thing I found today 1.webpThing I found today 4.webpThing I found today 3.webpThing I found today 4.webp

You melt it in a lead pot then use a dipper to pour it around drain pipe joints.

as stated it was melted and used to seal the joint on pipe. most often cast iron. it was replaced by a neoprene gasket back in the 1970s . I still have all my lead packing tools. you can melt it and pour your own fishing weights if you buy a mold or sell on Craigs list

Well, then I should sell it to help pay for this metal detecting gear, what can I get for 1 ingot? Assuming I don't find any more:hello2:
Also, thanks guys for all the info. I learn a lot from you.

Not much money , it's a 5lb block . a buck or two a pound if you're lucky. 50 cents a pound at the scrap yard.

Could advertise on a local shooter's site, they could use for it making home made bullets.

Lead is toxic to the environment, so if you don't have plans for it... recycle it.
