A 3/4 grooved axe axe.a personal surface find
From s.e. Minnesota. I found this one back in ‘08 A78D3EA9-C766-4909-AA22-E6D6401C56D5.webp87D50722-5DE2-4B2D-83D3-E29DCC5B4174.webpE634C8D3-1FD7-4BB1-9EB2-65C875407B7D.webp5571AE69-579D-4007-A21D-70B5968F8F46.webpEA14A899-693C-46D0-A6C4-B11647824784.webp

That is very nice. Thanks for sharing it with us and welcome aboard.

Nice find! Did you find it in a creek bed, gravel bar, plowed field etc?

Man that groove has been grinded and polished out nicely--more so than the rest of the surface.

Absolutely gorgeous!

I have that placed on a nice cherrywood plinth and put it in a showspot in the house!

Man, I need to find an axe! -- can you tell?

Do you walk the gravel bars in the Root River ever?

I'm originally from Lanesboro.

Wow that's an incredible find. I wonder how sharp it was in its heyday? Is it heavy? I want to hold it in my hands lol. I have had the misfortune of chopping down a tree with an axe before - a sharp axe against a small tree - and it took forever...Past experience makes me wonder what this axe was used for.

Awesome find! I usually fish the Root River in Lanesboro with the kids for the trout opener....never done any relic hunting down there though....jeaulous!!

Nice to see some people attracted to this particular forum.

Great stuff being shared lately!!!
