Those you who've been around this forum for a while know all too well about the yet to be ID'd 'E' disks that have been found by the dozens mostly in East coast states.

My buddy dug another one in Fairfax County VA on land consumed by the Washington DC suburban sprawl of the 50's and 60's.

Anyone interested in doing a little more research to finally figure out what these are?

Here's a few of the threads from over the last decade:

Here is the latest find:

E Disc.webp

Here is the map someone did showing find locations:

I'd like to hear some fresh ideas about what this might be.

Thx

Matt,
I found one a few years back, but couldn't find the post on TNet. I think some of those posts were deleted when TNet changed hands (so to speak) . . .anyway . . . One of those red dots is exactly where I live. Didn't we decide it was a cap to an old pressure relief valve? We know it's modern/ 20th Century because of the font.

This thing is like telemarketing calls; they keeps haunting us! :)

I've re-read all the posts I could find on these things. There were plenty of theories, including the pressure relief valve, but nobody ever proved anything.

I'm hoping some of the new talent we now have on the forum will give us a new avenue for research.

I'd like to know what the 'E' stands for...

Could you post a picture of the front and back with a tape measure next to it ?

DCMatt's and Matt1334's do look like a freeze plug (flat type). The others don't.

"E" for Egg Counter.... :tongue3:

Is there any evidence of an attachment on the back?

OMG! I remember the egg counter thread!

No evidence of anything on the back of any of them. Just the "pry mark" on the edge of many.

Have disks with other letters been found or only "E"?

Only E.

Seems like there may have been a couple of different fonts and maybe a lower case letter, but only the letter E.
