I thought I had a button at first but then I saw the E. Anyone have a clue as to what this might be? Wheat cent pictured for size reference. I have seen threads with these and still haven’t seen an answer on what they could be...

It was solved - but I don't recall what they turned out to be. Something like the end of a fuse-link cap.
