Hey, new to the forum
. I have been using a cheap detector that my wife got me for Christmas for about 10 years and not really paying attention to what I was doing, the old detector probably had a max depth of 2 inches but I have found lots of coins around picnic tables whenever we we went camping. I knew nothing about air testing and saw a video on youtube and tried it on mine, I had to touch the coins and my ring to the coil to get a response
I got frustrated and had an idea that real detectors probably worked better than the one I was using so I started reading about better ones after a girl lost her gold ring on the kiddie playground at my sons school, it stays locked after hours so nobody has ever used a detector in there besides me.
I took mine over to help her but never found it, all I found was a nickel after searching for a couple hours with the cheap one. Anyway, I decided on a Tesoro Vaquero because of the simplicity and light weight of it and went back last night in the dark and searched for about an hour, holy smoke, I found about $12 in change, a gold colored pin and a silver charm, it was getting kind of annoying fast which I never thought would happen picking up free money. I never found the ring though and will go back and clean up more change when I have time and hopefully find the ring. Anyway, hi!
