Apologies to my American friends and neighbors...:laughing7:

Oddball on the sense that yesterday on this site I dug the 1812 Artillerists button and today I dig this mystery item with an old pattern eagle. I thought it was a button at first but not so sure about that. It's thin brass. I then thought of a handsaw but but it's too thin for that and there is no post. Any ideas would be welcome! Also finished with the usual targets from this type of site including a decent but later Canadian large cent.

Thanks for looking!

Can you read the bottom word? I have a guess at what it might say.

Nice finds. Congrats

good finds for sure

Nice finds! I also think saw medallion. Couldn't find the exact copy online but that's a common thing when looking up old relics. The lack of a post isn't a deal breaker either. A number of those old medallions didn't have one.

It's so thin though...i suspect you're right but if that is the case then this would have to be part of a two piece post. I've found several saw medallions and they were all one piece.
