Thought you might get a kick out of this. Came out of a navy seamans album from 1918.
He was with the Submarine service. I have pictures of the K1 submarine and may others that have never been seen before. Can't post though. Too rare. (sorry) But this is a good shot of a named diver from that time period.

The technology sure didn't seem to change very much from 1918 to when this picture was taken in the mid 1950's. This is the legendary treasure diver from Florida, Art Mckee. Look at those lead shoes and lead weightbelt.....not to mention the heavy brass helmet!

We used to keep a few sets of Mk IV gear around just to give the students a try at 'real diving' I had one particularly BIG fellow accidentally blow himself to the surface of the pool, after we fished his inflated 'person' around to the ladder where I could pop the wrist seal and let the air out, he climbed out without help, RAN to the suiting bench, put his hands on the helmet and turned it off without releasing the dog, bent the dog all to hell, and took the helmet off .. now THAT was adrenaline pumping Fear!!! He never had a problem with a standard superlite.. Just something about the canvas bag!!!
