Went out again today.....trying to get as much hunting in before the snow falls. It was slow going at first until about halfway through the hunt when I found that big point (big for around here anyway). It measures 2 ⁵/¹⁶" long. Beautiful patina on it but it does have that small impact fracture. 20191102_163655.webp20191102_163711.webp20191102_163800.webp20191102_163814.webp20191102_160452.webp20191102_163835.webp20191102_163901.webp20191102_163922.webp20191102_163946.webp20191102_164002.webp20191102_164021.webp

Very productive hunt. Some nice finds in that group. Is the large Point a Besant?

Killing it! I especially like the third one in the top row with that cool color.

Thanks chip! That point is mostly a caramel color with sort of a moss agate like tip.

Would those be knives or spear points. They look to big to be arrowheads. Nice finds!

Thanks newnan! They were spear heads. A person does find some side notched knives from time to time but they are usually in the 3 ½" to 5" range and usually quite a bit thicker....a lot of times asymmetrical. If you find stuff into the Earlier Archaic and Paleo times they usually used flake knives or large oval blades.
