It was get up early and get out before the humid weather hit, and did it ever 86F feeling like 104F and for around here it might as well be -40 because it's not nice to be outdoors. So a few hours of digging in the nails, lost my magnet :icon_scratch: 10'x10' area must of left it in a hole. Anyways I did manage a 1844 Half Penny Token that is taking a bath right now and a few other items. The double bent flat stock I was thinking might be a kettle/pot hanger over the fire? Couple of spoon parts, another fork piece, and a Twoonie! There's just too many different sized square nails in this world.:laughing7:

Nice finds - love those square nails!!

I enjoy seeing those old Canadian tokens. Those were Iassume before Canada had it's own pieces.

Most of the tokens were struck by private mints in Britain, there was the 3 in the USA, and a couple in Ireland.

:laughing7: There might be a few in there, it was just a quick dump and a photo as it was just too hot to look at them closely. I'm not sure if they were making them in the 1830's still. Oh ya Sutphin don't get too excited it was only a Half Penny Token :)

Lots of relics and digging! Guess you won't be needing any nails for a while! :laughing7:
Nice token! I like the cooking pot hanger

Thanks!
I think the hanger will be repurposed for hanging my coat up in the shop, or something along those lines. Square nails, and the variety that can come out of one hole makes me wonder if there was a fire/fire pit, or where the wood was piled up and rotted away. I do know this one structure was torn down in the 1930's so it had been up for a 100 yrs.

Love finding those old tokens, Sweet save!!

It would make sense if boards where piled up nails would be in a tight area. If they were in a fire would there be an ashy or sooty substance on the nails along with the rust? Kinda like when you dig a pit and there's a blackened layer in the soil.

Lots of nails there! Sometimes it pays off, nice token!

Just got some of the crud off the token and it's looking pretty good for now.

Nice finds buddy, the kettle/pot hanger is an interesting piece!
The 1844 Half Penny turned out very nice following your restoration!

Thanks again for meeting up yesterday.

Thanks Dave
It sure has been a longtime since I dug on grass, I'm thinking fields and bush is easier, and less goose bombs laying around. :tongue3:

The token is really sweet. Congrats and good luck!

PEPPER J THATS A NEAT FIND I WOULD HAVE TO SAY.

Nice token, love finding things like that. Being in NH maybe I have a chance to walk over one of those myself.

That half penny is in great shape. I would be very happy to find an old coin with such detail. I have an old mining camp close to me with the cellar holes being full of cut nails, broken pottery and melted glass. I have never found anything interesting there.
