Decided to stay close to home yesterday, and hit a school yard that I've detected on and off for around 20 years. The school itself was built around 1910. Still managed to find a '56 Wheat, and this Warfield Milk Chocolate Co. token. On the front it says "For good Luck, health, wealth, happiness, success. On the reverse it says " Warfield Cocoa builds strong bodies - sound minds". The only thing I could find out thru research, is that the company was in Chicago. If anyone can find out a time period or any other history of the token for me, I'd appreciate it.

I found a c1929 Warfield Chicago Skyline Chocolate Mold on eBay, reasonably priced I might say at $4,000. :laughing7:

Here's what the seller had to say about it... "Anton Reiche 1929 Rare chocolate original mold. It appears to have been made for the Warfield Chocolate company based in Chicago. Stunning details. I think it was a one-of-a-kind custom-made mold to celebrate the 1931 Worlds Fair in Chicago as a huge display piece of chocolate bars. 19 x 11 x 3 inches. The detail is truly amazing. Made in Germany. I. C. Weygandt Co., New York, USA. No 26430. I would imagine that they used to mold to make large chocolate bars so that merchants could display the bars to drive sales of their baking chocolate. The Chicago skyline details are amazing. Notice the bi-plane and the blimp/zeppelin! This will take your breath away it is so stunning."

Here's a link to the court proceedings from 1939 where AMERICAN LECITHIN CO. v. WARFIELD CO. where American Lecithin attempted to prevent Warfield Chocolate from using the word LECITHIN in describing the manufacturing of their products. AMERICAN LECITHIN claimed the word was patented by them.

Judges notes: "We conclude, therefore, that the plaintiff's attempt to extend its patent monopoly beyond the boundaries described in the claims of the patent is condemned under the law. For this reason relief to the plaintiff is denied, and the decree of the district court is affirmed. The word "lecithin", as known in the chocolate industry, has reference to commercial preparations such as those sold by the plaintiff in this case, which contain 60% (more or less) of pure lecithin and 40% (more or less) of oil or fat of vegetable origin."

Circuit Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.
June 13, 1939.
Rehearing Denied July 15, 1939.

Thanks Dave, When I post the picture it is right side up, but when you go to blow it up, it turns upside down. On the opposite side of the token, it says "Warfield Cocoa builds strong bodies and strong minds". It has the same design in the center. The only thing I know, is they were located in Chicago. Your research of 1920's and 30's, is the closest thing I have to a time era. The school yard where I found it, dates to 1910. Thanks for your help, Ron
