I normally hunt in Central VA and have Been blessed to finds tons of CW and very early Colonial relics, while visiting my parents house in Northern NJ which was built in the late 1800s I decided to mess around a bit in the small yard, I normally don’t get overly excited about post CW sites being spoiled in VA but obviously have a strong connection to my family house. Found a few wheat Pennies then was excited about the lead toy dog and money clip, got another penny tone behind garage and assumed another wheat but once I saw the design I knew it was something different, after cleaning it off I was shocked to see this was a CW merchant token and really excited to see the exact location of the saloon!! Amazing to think in Brooklyn NY this saloon once stood, certainly not my most magnificent find but be able to find it in my family home makes it really special and actually it’s my first CW merchant token and seems to be a rare one.

That find really floats my boat. The saloon designation was not the most popular on trade tokens and so it is not very common. I would really like to find one someday that was still floating around in circulation after the war.
