I am no expert, not even a novice. To me it looks as though it was made to look old. Or the axe head might be old but the handle added on later.
 

agree...the axe and handle are a marriage.
 

Yeah, while the axe head could be confused as being a Viking Battle Axe, having a handle that was turned on a Wood Lathe, definitely spells otherwise. Last time I checked, the Vikings did not have Wood Lathes.:icon_scratch:

Welcome to t-net sir. You may also try the "What is it section" The clue shall be in the steel in the hopefully hand forged blade and show fold marks. It could be a modern re haft of an old blade. Give them a try.
