Yesterday was the first post-worthy day I've had in a long time, mostly because I got a "real" job and my priorities have shifted. On the way to said expo I made a quick stop at a favorite thrift a few blocks away and paid $3 for a bag containing a sterling necklace and a nice big retired James Avery brooch in sterling & 14k.

The antique expo is a quarterly deal held at a local event center. Never had much luck there but it had been over a year since I checked it out so figured I'd give it a shot. At the first table I found a beautiful repousee broom handle that was unmarked but obviously sterling, paid $8. A little further down I spent $4 on a bag of mixed junk that contained two 14k earring clips and a pretty Beau sterling sea shell brooch. The best stop was also the most expensive, $70 for a large pair of handcrafted 14k earrings, a 14k & CZ ring, a sterling taxco brooch and two nice costume rings (would have passed on those and spent less if I had had a magnet on me). The last booth I stopped at produced a nice pair of 14k earrings for $2 and also an invitation to bring in some costume jewelry tomorrow to either trade or sell outright. I was quite pleased with my finds, don't know where any of my scales are but I'm estimating 15+ grams of 14k total, and I'm always happy to be able to monetize some of my massive stash of incidental junk jewelry
