Unique find and conversation piece for sure, congratulations. While I’m not sure what it is, I agree with ARC, I do not believe it is a flashlight. The 2 cylinder shapes reminds one of a AA holder, the age of the finds seems to negate that as it is probably older that AA battery use. Good luck with the identity search.
 

Good morning!
I found this yesterday while detecting on lunch. It rang up high and when I dug it out I thought it was a bottle. After cleaning, it came apart and I believe it was an old flashlight? It doesn't have any maker marks on it.

I know this is an older thread but I believe I know what this item is now that I had found a few years ago. Yesterday we took the kids to a local pioneer museum close by. While looking at the cases one of the items caught my eye. It was what was left of an old powder flask. I didn’t realize they made them in different styles like this. I googled antique double chamber powder flask and found a couple that look like the one I found.
