I am going to the wonderfull Island of Hawaii in November and I was thinking about finding some rings in the surf, but then I was thinking.

1. What happens when a ring is dropped ? Does it fall straight down a get down in the sand maybe 1/2 " and then it works its way down to a hard layer in the sand ( maybe Shell cover layer) ?

2. Does the ring rest on top of the sand bottom and go in with the surf or out with the surf ?

I have found may rings deep in the bottom waist deep and I have found rings on the beach in the high tide line. But I have never explored the rings that would possible go the other way with the tide ( away from the beach)

To somebody with more experience than me, does rings go the other way also and maybe stop by rocks or other objects or do rings continue out to sea with the surf/tide ?

You guys the thought when you can't fall a sleep at night because you think about your next treasure trip!

Well hoping for some help from somebody on this one

Things dropped on the sand or in the water act many different ways depending on the weight or the object, waves, sand hardness, etc. Depending on the tides and currents at the time things get moved all over the place and storms wash things up and carry them out too.

That's what makes beach hunting so much fun.
